People gifting virtual roses to woo lovers: mig33

Leading a virtual life is certainly saving a lot of money for the youth who earlier used to spend huge sums buying gifts for their lovers and friends. Today, internet users are giving virtual presents instead of tangible gifts. A research by mig33, a mobile social networking site, stated that 30 per cent of the mobile-first users, whose primary mode of staying connected is mobile phone and not PC, brag about their spending abilities in the virtual world.

The study noted that 69 per cent of users spend money on cheap gifts priced within Rs 15. It could be a hug, a kiss or a rose.
On the social front, the research highlighted that 60 per cent plus mobile-first users believe that their virtual identity boosts their confidence levels and helps them in avoiding social taboos and inhibitions.
Not just this, the tier 2 and tier 3 users are cutting their expenses like eating junk food, calling or travelling on public transport, to spend that extra money on these social networking products.
The results of the report further iterate the fact that social networking is constantly becoming an issue of priority amongst the youth. They are becoming conscious about the happenings in the virtual world and it stands juxtapose with their real lives.
The research was conducted in tier 1, 2 and 3 cities to check the importance of social media importance for current crop. The 360 respondents from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur, Surat amid others were asked a set of 10 questions ascertaining their priorities in social life.
