RIM PlayBook turning out to be a huge success?

PlayBook sold more units than Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom"

It’s now widely known that RIM’s PlayBook was unable to garner great review at the time of its launch. As a matter of fact, a few critics were harsh enough to state that this product is still unfinished. However, this did not deter the company from selling record number of devices on its launch day.
Research in Motion has managed to sell more than 50,000 tablets on the launch day alone, which is more than what analyst expected it to sell.
Though this may seem quite meager in front of Apple, which managed to sell 3,00,000 Apple iPad (the first iPad) on the launch date, but RIM has sold more device units than Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab.
What’s more a research carried out by RBC Capital Markets revealed that, 11% of the retailers that had stocked RIM PlayBook claimed to have sold out by end of the day.
However, one should not get carried away by these sheer numbers. These are still early day for the RIM PlayBook. Having managed to excite the early adopters, the Canadian company still has an uphill task in front of it, which consists of keeping up with the existing momentum and come up with timely software and hardware updates.
